My process for art:
Spend too much time working your day job, so you don't have time to really get started.
Repeat for several days.
Sit down to start, and spend too much time scrolling your phone instead.
Finally find an idea and pencil sketch it in an hour or less.
Flee quickly to bed.
Procrastinate lightly for a few days before inking it.
Inked! Share it with the world, who probably assume it's "done" when it's not.
Begin heavy procrastination.
The moments I've said, "oh, so this is what procrastination looks like mid-motion:
Organizing an empty fridge
Taking the plastic off votive candles I bought from the dollar store
Washing the teapot
Spending an hour cooking chicken I don't even want to eat
Researching "DIY snake repellant"
Rearranging the wildflowers on my counter
Sweeping the floor again
Eating the chicken
Complaining about eating too much chicken
Being unable to contain a "need" to go to Goodwill and The Dollar Store
Assembling and reassembling my art workstation for the day
Wandering into the yard to talk to my plants
"While I'm here" watering said plants
Restacking the patio furniture pillows for the next rain that isn't coming for a month cause I live in the desert
Checking Dora's paws
Peeing
Spraying peppermint on that trail of ants that found its way into the trash again
Talking to the spells and gems on my altar
Burning candles and bay leaves
Making something to drink
Peeing again
Adjusting the fan speed
Changing my socks because these ones "feel funny"
Checking my email
Checking my day job email
Checking the status of my last Amazon order
Looking at my drawings in-progeess briefly
Burning more bay leaves
Taking my hair down and standing on the mirror deciding if I want to let it grow, or cut it short
Inspecting a zit that's healing above my lip
Throwing away random bits of trash
Using the first stair to do step ups in the ongoing effort to maintain my glutes
Retrieve said Amazon package from the delivery driver
I could go on.
Lord, I can go on.
Am I insufferable? Yes.
But also, cute.
Don't worry, I made progress on my artwork too.
