👋 Welcome to My Name Is Erica—a dispatch from the edge of the wild.
I’m Erica: a 40-year-old tech worker by trade, artist and writer by calling. I live in the California desert with my dog Dora (a Chinese Crested with more personality than most people). This Substack is where I share the unfolding story of what happens when you step off the prescribed path and start creating your own.
After years of pushing through illness, burnout, and disconnection, I’m healing—slowly, honestly, and sometimes messily. I'm recovering from Mercury Poisoning and Breast Implant Illness (BII), and I follow a carnivore diet to support my health. But healing here goes beyond the physical. It’s spiritual, creative, and deeply personal.
This space is for:
Those in the midst of transformation (willing or not)
Those who believe in magic—or want to
Artists still becoming
People who talk to plants and take naps in the middle of the day
Anyone craving something quieter, slower, and truer
You'll find essays about the body, the land, the creative process, and the moments in between. Sometimes practical, sometimes poetic. Always real.
I’m not here to teach, sell, or preach. I’m here to share—to document the becoming. If that resonates, you’re warmly invited to follow along.
Why subscribe?
Because you're craving something real.
This isn’t a performance or a productivity hack. It’s a slow, honest chronicle of healing, reinvention, and creative becoming—from someone doing it in real time, not after the fact.
Subscribe if you want to feel less alone in your own messy transformation. If you want to read words that feel like deep breaths. If you're curious about what it means to rebuild a life with intention, magic, and a bit of wildness.
No algorithms. No noise. Just a steady voice from the edge of the wild, arriving quietly in your inbox.
